Custom Flies

Crafting the Finest in American Hand Tied Flies

A Luxury

I will work directly with you to create exactly what you are looking for.    After I receive your request I will contact you to iron out any questions I might have, and work up an example and send you a picture to ensure it is exactly what you are looking for.  I also can tie flies to fit the rod and area that you are fishing.

Having custom flies tied is a little bit of a luxury item however they can also be the ticket to landing more fish.  In this case my flies are tied strictly by me, and to my standards, when I finish the fly if I would not put the fly in my box it will not come to you.  My standards are second to none, I only use the best of hooks and the best of materials, as my buddy says you can’t play like a quarter if you look like a dime. In other words use the best get the best.  My flies range from 40%-50% more than those purchased in a fly shop, however if you want something extremely special it could be slightly more expensive.

Learning to Cast a Fly Rod

Fly fishing take make that ordinary vacation extraordinary, it can also take you the some of the most beautiful places in the world. Most people think that fly fishing is an extremely expensive sport in which only the wealthy can afford, and to some extent this is true.  I can show you less expensive avenues to be able to get into this sport with quality gear for a very reasonable price.

Fly fishing over the years has been associated as a primarily male sport, women are busting on the fly fishing scene with vengeance and in my opinion are easier to teach casting than men. Fly fishing lets you see nature and the beauty in a whole new light.

Meet the Tyer

Lee Blanton

I have been fly fishing and tying for over 20 years, this all started casting to bluegill on our property.  From there it went to catching trout in the Smokey Mountains, and honing my skills as a fly tyer. In 2007 I met a great friend and master fly tyer Rob Prytula, he helped me with my techniques and sparked interest in tying warm water flies.  Too many people in my opinion limit the fly selection for warm water species, these fish can be as picky as trout at times. Through his tutelage, I gained knowledge of

materials and fly design.  I have since moved to Texas, but I still keep in touch with Rob, he has had a standing impact on my fly tying.

In the past year I have become interested in the Deer hair bass bug and all the things that come along with that.  I believe that my bugs are as dense and float as good or better than any fly you will find. I take pride in the fact that my flies hold up to the test of monster fish.  Time, great

materials, and personal aspiration to create the finest of American made flies are what make me who I am as a fly tyer.

All the flies I design artistic representations of the actual food source they were specifically designed to imitate, they are tested and redesigned and retested until I am satisfied with the final product. My flies are functional pieces of art that have been proven to catch fish, big fish and lots of fish.
